Sunny Webster
Meet Sunny
Sunny Webster is a Bear clan member of the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Sunny earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design from the Illinois Institute of Arts in Chicago.
For many years she designed costumes and garments for stage performers. This experience gave her the experience and confidence to begin designing creations that reflected her culture and indigeneity. All of Sunny’s designs combine her duality as an indigenous woman; her urban side and her Indigenous side. She takes traditional images and adds a contemporary flare that reflect her unique design aesthetics.
Sunny's love for sewing has also lead to her teaching sewing classes. In 2022 she took third place in the categories of 3-dimentional and Apparel & Textile.
At the Woodland Indian Art Show, in 2022, Sunny took third place in the categories of 3-dimentional and Apparel & Textile for this design. The design titled, Clan Mother, is a culmination of different aspects of her life, experience and being. The urban native, the drag influence and her indigenous heritage.
