Karen Hoffman

Meet Karen

Karen Ann Hoffman is an enrolled member of the Oneida Tribe if Indians of Wisconsin, and is a traditional Haudenosaunee Raised Beadwork artist. She learned this traditional style of beadwork as student of Samuel Thomas and Lorna Hill (kānap).

Karen's work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution (NMAI), Chicago’s Field Museum, the Eiteljorg Museum of Indian and Western Arts, the Fenimore Art Museum and other locations.

In 2020 Hoffman was selected National Heritage Fellow, and in 2022 United States Artists Fellow. She consults for museums across Turtle Island, advocating for the authentic expression of in-community voices.
