About Us

Who We Are - Red Magic

Red Magic is a Milwaukee based artist collective created to amplify, support and advance Native American arts, artists and culture. Founded and led by native artists and community members, Red Magic is uniquely qualified to recognize and address the specific challenges that are faced by our underrepresented and disenfranchised population.

In the pursuit of decolonizing the art world, we passionately challenge dominant narratives and western definitions of fine art. Striving to celebrate and preserve Native American arts and culture, while strengthening community ties through representation and education, we host Wisconsin’s largest Native American art festival, Red Magic Arts Festival

We support native artists of all disciplines & at every stage of development, with the goal of safeguarding the culture and building healthy economies in Indian Country.

Art & Culture

Our culture is entirely shaped by art. From our social and ceremonial songs and dances, to our ceremonial feast bundles (bowl, spoon, cup), to the way we raise families, cook food and gather as a community; art touches every aspect of native culture and every part of our lives. Through support, amplification, facilitation and education we foster, perpetuate, and safeguard native culture and native arts.

Community

We are committed to the support of both traditional and contemporary art as well as native artists of all ages, all disciplines and at all stages of development.

Hosting native art events, markets and festivals allows us to build and foster a stronger community while providing an opportunity for the public to engage with our artists and community. Interacting directly with artists opens up an intimate educational opportunity, which one can gain a greater understanding of cultural significance and artistic process.
